![]() A previous owner removed the trim tag to have the car media blasted so it will need to be reattached. One of the NOS front inner fenders took on water and will need to be patched. I tried to take pics of these areas so please review them carefully. There are a few areas of rust I could find: at the base of the windshield, on the driver's floor pan, at the back window corners, in the radiator support, and in areas on two of the bed braces and in the rear wheelhousings. Body panel condition is generally good the SS hood is rust free and in exceptional shape, the doors and fenders look pretty good, and the quarters have a few minor dings that I could find. I have not worked on it or moved it since buying it two years ago. From what I can tell, the body was taken off the frame, the frame was blasted and painted, and the body was placed back on the frame to store it away. The car was then disassembled for a full restoration which was never finished, and that is how it sits today. The El Camino had NOS quarters and inner/outer fenders installed in the late 1970s and I believe the last time it ran was the early 1980s. The El Camino was sold at Schwyn Brothers Chevrolet in Blissfield, MI, and has never left the Blissfield/Adrian, MI area, so there is a good chance the drivetrain and paperwork may still be in the area. I think of this car as a lottery ticket if you are able to track down the original engine block, or documentation, you could instantly add tens of thousands of dollars in value. There is NO FACTORY PAPERWORK with this car but I have spoken with the original owner who agreed to sign a notarized affidavit stating how he ordered the car when it was new. I am aware of only three 1969 El Caminos ordered with the L89 option, including this one, so it is a very rare car. ![]() The color combination is spectacular - Cortez Silver with a black vinyl top and black buckets & console. This El Camino has a lot of potential, and we are sure this is someone’s dream “truck”.PLEASE READ: I can only add 24 pictures to Ebay's listing, but there are many more below the description so please check them out! Up for auction is my 1969 El Camino SS396, which was ordered new with the 396/375hp engine, L89 aluminum heads, M22 4-speed transmission, and 3.73 positraction 12 bolt rear. The only other notable rot is in the bed, and it is a small area located midway in the bed. The biggest issue with this El Camino is the front cross member has some rot needing to either be repaired, or replaced. The lower portion of the rear quarters are rotted, and it looks as if the rockers are starting to develop some rust. There is some various surface rust on the exterior as well as some rot in the lower front fenders. Moving to the exterior also shows a not too bad off El Camino, though there are some issues that need to be pointed out. Oh and did we mention this Chevy is equipped with an 8 track cassette tape player? Big selling point for sure! We are sure there may be some other issues that may better present themselves in person, but overall this interior isn’t too shabby. The driver seat is split, and the glove box door has some minor surface rust. A bit dirty, warranting a solid cleaning, this interior looks to need little. The dark blue interior with the silver exterior is a lovely color combination for this El Camino. Taking a looking inside the “cab” reveals a very reasonable condition interior. The only big item missing from the bay is the 396’s air cleaner. The alternator looks mighty corroded, and it is funny how one valve cover is rusty while the other is reasonably rust free. ![]() The engine and bay are covered in a fairly even coat of surface rust, though there appears to not be any major rust of rot present. Optioned with air conditioning, power steering, power disc brakes, and an automatic transmission, this El Camino will make for a comfy driver with those features. The matching number 396 does not run but does turn over by hand. Find it here on eBay out of West Creek, New Jersey. With no reserve, bidding has reached $4,550.00 with 4 days remaining. With loads of potential this would be an awesome El Camino to restore. This 1969 Super Sport example is original with a matching numbers 396 V8. With a UTE type of appearance, the El Camino is the muscle truck that so many of us lust after. ![]()
